Arlington woman wins dairy crown

Andrea Neff21-year-old Andrea Neff of Arlington will represent Snohomish County's dairy industry for the next year after being crowned the 2009-10 Dairy Ambassador at the annual coronation banquet held April 25.

Neff, the daughter of Cherene and Simon Neff, served as ambassador alternate during the 2008-09 reign of Melissa Cook. Cook was on hand to pass the official tiara and sash to her successor at the Silvana event.

Kelsey Anderson and Brooke Schoenbachler were named alternates in this year's contest.

Melissa Cook, who will be a candidate for the state title in June, also received a $750 scholarship from the Snohomish County Dairy Women, along with Cayla Boisseranc of Maltby.

Pat Manning of Arlington received an engraved pitcher as the 2009 Snohomish County Dairy Shrine Honoree. Manning was a dairy farmer in the Silvana area and became a 4-H Dairy leader in 1968. Over the years she has maintained active involvement with 4-H and the Snohomish County Dairy Women, serving two years as the state organization's president.
