The tax return is mailed, your records are updated, and now it's time to purge outdated documents from your filing cabinets. To ensure your security, bring those sensitive documents to a free community shredding event on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at E&E Lumber, 1364 State Avenue in Marysville.

Sponsored by Rodland Toyota, HomeStreet Bank, North County Outlook, the City of Marysville and Marysville Sunrise Rotary, the Saturday event features free hot chocolate and coffee supplied by Vinaccio Coffee. The Marysville-Pilchuck High School football team will also be on hand to help unload boxes.

Although there's no charge for the shredding service, volunteers will accept donations of cash or non-perishable food items to benefit the local food bank and community service organizations.

"We hope lots of folks will take advantage of the free shredding event to protect themselves from identity theft," said HomeStreet Bank manager Marilyn Boe.

The certified document destruction service is provided by American Data Guard.
