The Marysville Historical Society's spring tea conjures up images of a gentler, more leisurely time in the city's past, when ladies of society dressed their tables in fine linens, and themselves in bustles and bows, while graciously serving tea and sweets to their friends and neighbors.
On March 29, today's residents are invited to help recreate the genteel tradition of an afternoon tea party while helping the non-profit historical society raise much-needed funds for its ongoing operation and the building of a new museum.
The spring tea and fashion show will take place in the Tulalip Resort Hotel's Orca Ballroom on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Vintage wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses will be modeled, courtesy of the Marysville Goodwill store, and a silent auction and raffle will complete the afternoon's activities.
Members of MHS are hosting tables at the event, with each hostess providing table linens, fine dinnerware and decorations for the luncheon. Guests are encouraged to dress in hats and their "Sunday best," and prizes will be awarded for the best outfit, best hat and best decorated table.
Tickets to the social event are still available at $20 each, and can be purchased at the MHS office at 1508-B Third Street in downtown Marysville, or by phoning Eilene Zachry at (360) 659-2798.
Bustles are not required.
