The snow geese have returned to local farm fields, and Snohomish County birders are planning a special event in their honor.

The 4th Annual Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival will take place the weekend of February 28 and March 1, with lots of activities for the whole family.

As part of the festival, both Stanwood House and Four Springs art galleries will host exhibitions focusing on the migratory birds.

"Bringing Forth the Birds" is on display at Four Springs Preserve, 585 Lewis Lane on Camano Island. The exhibition at the Stanwood House, located at 9915-270th St. NW in Stanwood, is called "Birds of a Feather."

The festival will feature events for both experienced and beginning birders, offering tours, activities and speakers at several locations. For information, visit www.snowgoosefest.org.
