Cindy and Mark Langmas have built a successful and respected catering business over the past 18 years in Snohomish County. Now the Marysville couple has taken on a big challenge in pursuit of a dream to bring a quality restaurant and entertainment experience to the area.

As the new operators of the restaurant attached to the Best Western Tulalip Inn, the caterers are facing some unique challenges.

The former home of Henry's Lady and other dining options, the Langmases have christened the restaurant and banquet space Pacific Rim Supper Club and Ballroom.

"I grew up going with my parents to some wonderful supper clubs in the Midwest," said Cindy Langmas. "They featured great music, a cozy atmosphere and absolutely impeccable service. That's the idea we want to recreate here."

With plans for live entertainment, a limited but exciting menu and the kind of personalized service that's rare these days, Langmas hopes local residents will appreciate the unique qualities of the new restaurant.

The space includes a stage that can house dinner theatre or interactive murder mysteries as well as jazz combos or a swing band. The gleaming dance floor invites locals to practice ballroom moves they've seen on TV or practiced at a dance studio.

"We're still waiting on our liquor license," said Cindy Langmas, "and we don't really know when it may be issued. So we're not able to set a firm opening date, and everything's kind of up in the air."

The previous tenant closed the doors abruptly, leaving customers and vendors high and dry. Part of the expense of opening the new restaurant included the repair of electrical service that was "sabotaged" by a disgruntled electrician.

But the couple, owners of A Moveable Feast catering, have also replaced carpeting, repainted, remodeled the bathrooms and spruced up the outside of the building. More work is still ongoing, including some custom murals painted by local artist ?? and the installation of a large lighted awning at the restaurant's entrance.

Pacific Rim Supper Club is geared for an early March opening, dependent on that liquor license and other variables. North County Outlook will publish an in-depth look at the new facility and its entertainment plans as the grand opening date draws nearer.
