Camp Fire candy supports youth programs, camp scholarships
Sweet tooths, rejoice. (Or is that sweet teeth?) Camp Fire candy is back!
Beginning January 23, Camp Fire USA Club members began selling four mouth-watering brands of delight: Camp Fire Mints, Almond Caramel Clusters, Almond Roca, and P-Nuttles, each for $5 a box.
Camp Fire boys and girls may be offering their wares in front of grocery stores, banks and other businesses. If you need more personalized service, call (425) 258-KIDS to have a youth member come to you.
Nicole Loehr, a three-time All Star 1,000 Club member, enjoys selling candy because it's fun. "I look forward to the cool prizes every year," Nicole explained. In past years the youngster, who is 11 years old, has earned dinner at the Seattle Space Needle, limo rides and money towards Camp Killoqua as rewards for selling over 1,000 boxes of candy during the four-week sale.
"I also like knowing that I'm helping other kids get the opportunity to be part of Camp Fire," said Nicole. Proceeds from the candy sale fund scholarships for children to participate in Camp Fire's club program and attend Camp Killoqua, the organization's campground in north Snohomish County.
Camp Fire also plans to continue its support of military personnel this year by expanding the "Candy for Troops" program. People buying candy have the option to purchase Camp Fire candy and donate it to troops overseas and right here at Naval Station Everett. Camp Fire will make sure that the candy is delivered to the men and women who serve our country.
Camp Fire candy is only available to purchase for four weeks a year, so it's a good idea to stock up. Sales will continue through February 16. Support a good cause and get your snack on with Camp Fire candy.
