With the retirement of longtime Library Board member and community advocate Dorothy Stanton, the City of Marysville is taking applications for her replacement to serve a five-year term on the Library Board of Trustees.

Applicants for the position must reside within the Marysville School District boundaries or the city's urban growth area, the latter of which includes parts of Lakewood and the Whiskey Ridge/East Sunnyside Hills area. The seven-member board meets at 4 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the Marysville Public Library, 6120 Grove St.

The Board adopts rules and regulations for its own guidance and for governance of the library as deemed necessary, accepts gifts of money or property for the library, and proposes leases or purchases related to library grounds and facilities, all subject to final approval of the City Council.

Interested individuals are asked to submit a letter of interest, resume or both, in care of Assistant Administrative Services Director Tracy Jeffries at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270. Deadline to submit is 5 p.m. Friday, January 19. For more information, contact the Clerk's Office at (360) 363-8075.
