Marysville dog owners will have to wait just a little longer to celebrate the opening of the city's first off-leash park.

The grand opening of Strawberry Fields for Rover, originally planned for November 15, has been postponed due to significant flooding caused by recent heavy rains. The event has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, December 6.

Marysville Parks and Recreation staff determined that water levels in the Quilceda Creek corridor have risen as much as eight inches, making the trail system to the off-leash park impassible, said Jim Ballew, Parks and Recreation Director. The floodwater was not expected to recede in time for the November 15 festivities.

Repairs will be made when the entire trail corridor can be accessed, Ballew said. The off-leash park itself has not been impacted by flooding.

The new dog park is located at the Strawberry Fields Athletic Complex, 6100-152nd St. NE in north Marysville. For more information, call Maryville Parks and Recreation at (360) 363-8402. Additional details are available at the Marysville Dog Owners Group Web site at http://m-dog.org.
