Rock club to offer college scholarship

Local college students interested in earth sciences can apply for a new scholarship from the Marysville Rock and Gem Club.

The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a college sophomore, with 45 to 90 credits, who is majoring in geology or earth sciences at a local college or university.

Applicants will be scored on scholarship, goals, financial need, references and an intent to continue studies in the earth sciences.

The scholarship application is available online at www.geocities.com/yosemite/trails/3505. Applications should be sent to Marysville Rock and Gem Club, P.O. Box 710, Marysville, WA 98270, and are due by December 1, 2008.
