OMCC begins holiday food and toy collections

Helping others in our local communities is even more critical during the coming holiday season, and Operation Marysville Community Christmas (OMCC) is leading the effort to provide for needy families.

Red food barrels are already in place at area grocery stores, and shoppers are encouraged to donate non-perishable boxed or canned food items. Especially needed are items such as tuna, vegetables, baked beans, fruit cocktail, soups, beef stew, chili, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter and sugar.

Food donations can also be delivered to the Marysville Community Food Bank, 6518-60th Dr. NE, from 8 to 11 a.m. every day except Wednesday and Sunday.

In addition to the food drive, OMCC is collecting new toys, clothes, coats, books, puzzles, games and gift certificates to be distributed to our neighbors in need this holiday. Several local businesses are hosting gift collection trees, and items can also be delivered to the food bank’s Toy Store.

The food and toy drive will continue through December 18. For more information, call the Marysville Community Food Bank at (360) 658-1054 or e-mail OMCC4Marysville@gmail.com.
