Help build smiles with playground project
by Beckye Randall

Bring your work gloves, hand tools and a fun-loving attitude for a special one-day project building a new playground at the Tulalip Boys and Girls Club on Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day).
Seahawks receiver Bobby Engram, a 2008 recipient of The Home Depot NFL Neighborhood MVP Award, will pitch in to help with the construction project. In his honor, the playground has been designed in Seahawks blue and green colors.
The Quil Ceda Home Depot is taking the lead on the playground build, in partnership with KaBoom!, a national nonprofit organization that is devoted to building a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. As KaBoom’s founding national partner, The Home Depot provides financial support, materials and volunteers for projects across the country.
Isaac Johnson, manager of the Quil Ceda Home Depot store, will be on hand November 11, along with dozens of store employees. “Our employees are really looking forward to it,” he said.
Other organizations planning to lend a hand include the Tulalip Tribes’ TERO, Lushootsheed, ECEAP and Montessori departments and the Tulalip Lions Club.
Community volunteers are encouraged to join the fun. Tools that will be needed for the build include wheelbarrows, post hole diggers, corded and cordless drills, sledge hammers, garden hoses, step ladders and circular saws. In addition, the nonprofit Boys and Girls Club is seeking donations of food, raffle prizes and cash to help make the project a success.
