Fill a firefighter's boot for muscular dystrophy

Firefighters work to Fill the Boot for MDAMarysville firefighters will be hitting the streets June 27 and 28 for the annual “Fill the Boot for MDA” fundraiser, hoping to beat last year’s total of $16,974.

Marysville Fire District firefighters will volunteer their time to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) while building community goodwill. Look for MFD firefighters and their boots on the corners of Grove Street and State Avenue on Friday, June 27, and Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Firefighters with open boots will be ready to collect donations from motorists and pedestrians, offering their thanks in return.

The community donations go to treatment, care, diagnosis, equipment and other services to help people with neuromuscular diseases. More than one million Americans are affected by neuromuscular diseases, with an estimated 250,000 living with some form of muscular dystrophy.
