Photography contest offers $1,000 prize

The Snohomish County Arts Commission seeks Washington State artists to submit original photo-based artwork for the 2012 Snohomish County Photography Contest, which focuses on the theme of "Play."
PLAY. It is an activity which proceeds within certain limits of time and space, in a visible order, according to rules freely accepted, and outside the sphere of necessity or material utility. The play-mood is one of rapture and enthusiasm, and is sacred or festive in accordance with the occasion. A feeling of exaltation and tension accompanies the action.-Johan Huizinga, Homo Ludens
A purchase prize of $1,000 dollars will be awarded to one photographer.
Up to 50 photo entries that best respond to the theme of "Play" will be selected for a group exhibit that will be on display at the Snohomish County Campus from October 1 to November 1, with an artist reception October 5. There is a $25 fee to submit up to three images.
The deadline for submission is September 10, 2012. Mail or deliver submissions to Snohomish County Arts Commission, Attn: Wendy Becker, 3000 Rockefeller Ave. M/S 411, Everett, WA 98201.
