For many, basking in the warmth of the holiday tradition that is "A Christmas Carol" is a can't-miss family event. But if you've never seen one of the dozens of live productions of the Dickens classic, consider enjoying Adagio Players' version of this voyage of self-discovery and redemption at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. in downtown Everett, during its Dec. 8 through 18 run.

Charles Dickens' resplendent story comes to life on stage in Christopher Schario's adaptation, told by narrators that turn into the actors carrying the audience on a true journey into the old tale.

"This story is the redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge and the re-birth of the child within him," explained director Lisa Goshorn. "He finds an affectionate companionship with Tim Cratchit who, like Ebenezer, will be healed. Ebenezer will take care of the medical help necessary to heal the boy and Tim will help Ebenezer heal his soul and allow him to relish in the beauty of youth, humanity and the joy of charity."

This adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" opens on Dec. 8 and runs through Dec. 18 with performances at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sundays at 2 p.m. Friday evening performances will also include a concert by Emerald City Voices.

Ticket prices are $16.50 for adults, $13.50 for students/seniors/military, and $11.50 each for groups of 6 or more. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or at http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/ or by calling the theater box office at 425-258-6766.
