Local author J.R. Nakken will be signing and discussing her latest book, "Sweet Grass Season," at The BookWORKS on Friday, October 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. until noon.

Nakken, who lives in Tulalip, is the author of two previously published books. Her first novel, "Three-Point Shot" for young adults, won a Writer's Digest award. Her second book, a collection of essays taken from her life, is "Stream and Light: A Woman's Journey."
